Energizing or sleepy?

Mostly calming, after a slow start. Leafly places LA Kush Cake on the calming side of its scale and lists sleepy among its top three effects, and Weedmaps says sleepiness shows up frequently in consumer reports; SeedFinder’s description calls it relaxing yet not necessarily sedative.1,3,5 AllBud and Weedmaps describe a lifted, euphoric stretch before the body relaxation, and Leafly notes that the effects take a while to come on.1,2,3

Why Leafly calls it a date-night strain

Because its reviewers say so. Leafly’s February 2022 HighLight presented LA Kush Cake “for date night”, noting that 29% of Leafly reviewers found it arousing; aroused is the first of its top three effects on Leafly, and Leafly named it one of its top eight strains for arousal in 2023.1,4,6 The same effect leads Leafly’s list for its parent Kush Mints and comes second for Wedding Cake.10,11 These are self-reports, not clinical findings.

Why two batches can feel different

Potency alone varies widely: one in ten lab-tested batches came in under 20.16% THC and one in ten above 29.99%, and the median ran from 22.15% in Washington to 27.85% in Maryland.12 Add numbered labels on some lots, feminized seed versions from three sellers and the many growers who were selling it across the US by 2022, and the same name can cover noticeably different flower.4,8,9,12,13
